Welcome to our new JCA blog!! We hope that this serves as a means of communicating with our parents and families about all the wonderful things that we are doing each and every week.
We will be posting messages from our teachers, students and administrators several times a week. Please make this a regular part of your day!
I had the privilege of attending our K5 and 1st grade chapel today and I was so moved! After being in there only a couple of minutes I began to become overwhelmed and emotional. Now, true, my daughter just so happened to be in this chapel; it was not lost on me that seeing her worship God was a touching sight for sure. But more than that, I felt the presence of God so strong. I was reminded how powerful it is to worship and serve God as a child. So trusting, so passionate, so much love. As adults we get jaded and hardened by the issues in our lives. we become calloused and “too cool”, “too old”, or “too dry” spiritually to worship freely. Well, today, doing these silly hand motions among 5 and 6 year olds, I felt the overwhelming presence of God, Creator of the universe, Master of my soul, and Lord of my life. It was amazing and it truly made me hungry for more.
If you are interested in heading up out Parent Teacher Association (Known in the past as Parents Supporting Our Children) please contact Dan Mendoza as soon as possible. We would like for parents to be directly involved with our efforts to create the best school possible at JCA.
This year we are focusing our improvements on new technology for the classrooms. As you may have noticed every classroom has a video projector and screen, and every teacher has been issued a new computer. This is awesome, but we dont want to stop there. Our dream is to have laptop computers that can be used in each classroom from Pre-K to 9th grade. We would also like to create a program that would enable middle school students to have their own laptop that they could take home and use throughout their education here at JCA. But, these programs require money. It would cost around $30,000 to start this program. Part of this would go towards paying off the computers and projectors that we obtained from the Escambia County School District. The majority would go directly to purchasing the computers and accessories needed for our program. Please be in pray over this and find ways that you can support.
We also have plans this year to do some mega-yard sales and set up concession stands at the local festivals in Pensacola. Please let us know if you are interested in helping with these, or even helping to administrate them. Thanks!
We have been approved to develop a JCA team that will work the concessions stands at the Pensacola Civic Center as a fundraiser for JCA. Basically, we get a commission and tips from the night’s events that we can put towards new technology for the classrooms. If you are able to help with this, there will be a new group meeting at the Civic Center Monday, August 16th, at 6pm. If you can be a part of this please contact our school office at 494-2477 and put your name on the list. Even if you cant be a part of this meeting, but you will be able to support us by participating, we still want to have your name listed.
We want to welcome all of our families and friends to our school this year! It is going to be an amazing time. We cant wait to see what God does in and through our students this year. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to stop by our school office at your convenience.
